 GKT Gazette - March 2003
Todd's name is immortalised in ‘Todd's Paralysis’, the transient unilateral paresis that may follow a focal motor seizure, an important but relatively uncommon clinical observation, but his contribution to epilepsy and to neuroscience is much greater than that.
An early achievement of Todd was to persuade the Council of King's College to purchase in 1839 a vacant workhouse in the Parish of St Clement Dane's in the slum area to the north of the Strand.
Todd was born in Dublin, the second son of a large Anglican Irish family, whose father, Charles Hawkes Todd, was Professor of Anatomy and Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, of which he was also President in 1821.

ISHN 1997 Annual Meeting -- Abstracts
Gowers observed that Todd's paralysis could occur after an exclusively sensory seizure, and inferred that postictal paralysis could also occur by active inhibition of motor centers by epileptic discharges located in sensory centers.
Since the corticospinal tract was his middle motor level, paralysis results from exhaustion of this level.
The contents were less revolutionary than the concepts of his colleagues Forel, Monakow, Eugen Bleuler and Adolf Meyer in Zürich who defied the limits traditionally imposed on solutions for the mind-body problem.

 Interview with the Faint
The band formed as a trio, with founding members Todd and Clark Baechle, as well as Petersen, in 1994.Performing under the name Norman Bailer, they began their career like any other indie rock band, according to Petersen, picking up guitar because it was easy to get and it was what they saw, TV.
On the recently released LP “Danse Macabre,” Todd Baechle (vocals, synthesizer), along with band members Joel Petersen (bass), Jacob Thiele (synthesizer), Clark Baechle (drums), and recent addition Dapose (guitar) construct songs that borrow heavily from ‘80s music a la Duran Duran, however with a new twist.
The album sounds roughly like a video game sound track, in that climactic, electronic music is juxtaposed with darker images of death, paralysis and betrayal found in the lyrics.

Many simple assault cases also depend on the willingness of victims to press charges, and few if any pro hockey players want to carry their on-ice feuds into the courts.

Joker (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Recent writers of the Batman comic book series have preferred the latter, and the Joker has been responsible for numerous tragedies in Batman's life, such as the murder of Jason Todd, the successor to the mantle of Robin after Dick Grayson, the injury/paralysis of Barbara Gordon, a.k.a.
She was popular enough to be integrated into the comics in 1999 and a modified version of the character (less goofy but still criminally insane and utterly devoted to the Joker) was also featured on the short-lived live-action TV series Birds of Prey.
As the Batman comics as a whole softened their tone, the character's emphasis was soon turned to jokes and comedy-themed crimes, and the Joker became a harmless, cackling nuisance.
