 SocialSkills
Social skills training, helps individuals make better choices in situations.
"Social skills training" is a general term for instruction conducted in (behavioral) areas that promotes more productive/positive interaction with others.
We teach social skills to students who are (at present) socially unskilled in order to promote acceptance by teachers (and other adults) and peers.

Social Skills for Our Children - Older Child Adoption
Social and emotional skills are learned through a combination of modeling quality examples, being taught how the skill looks when successfully implemented, hearing positive reinforcement when the skill is successfully implemented, and consequences when a child chooses not to implement an appropriate social skill.
Children that struggle to learn these skills may suffer from various biological or psychological impairments that necessitate extra social skills training.
To succeed with friends, classmates, and later in jobs, and with spouses, there are basic social and emotional skills our children need to learn.

 Teaching Social Skills
Fortunately, social skills can be taught just like academic skills.
The best way to do this is to plan a structured cooperative learning activity to follow the social skills lesson.
Then point out that most of these problems are caused by poor "social skills," sometimes known as "people skills." Share with them that even adults need to work on their social skills from time to time!

 Social Skills
Social skills can be a formidable challenge for individuals with NLD.
Summary - In this exploration of anger management in children with learning and attentional problems, the author discusses several areas of weakness (such as sensory integration, the ability to identify and express emotions, and perceptual-organization functions) which are common in children with NLD, and lie at the root of many of their social skills difficulties.
Summary - When a preschooler's poor social skills has made them unpopular with peers, teachers can follow these strategies to undo the damage, and help the child find social acceptance.

 Helping Your Child with Socialization
Children with poor attention and concentration fail to tune in to the social cues in their environment and thus don't learn social skills through experience.
Yes, there will be times when your child had to take defensive action-and you can deal with such situations by curtailing interaction with a specific youngster who may indeed be taking advantage of your child's vulnerability.
(Too often the child reaches the classroom totally untutored in social relationships, and the teacher is expected to do the job.) Most teachers will react favorably to a request for a conference on social needs.

Pre-Neandertal Humans Developed Social Skills Earlier Than Thought
Pre-Neandertal Humans Developed Social Skills Earlier Than Thought
Teeth and jaw fossils found last year in southeastern France not only reinforce perceptions about how our Neandertal ancestors developed physically, but also suggest that their social and technological development was much more advanced than previously documented.
They had good cutting tools and controlled fire, but the absence of real hearths and tools that would have done more than dice the food suggests that this individual was being given softer food items by other members of the social group.
