Shoulder - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In human anatomy, the shoulder joint is composed of three bones: the clavicle (collarbone), the scapula (shoulder blade), and the humerus (upper arm bone).
Tendons are tough cords of tissue that attach the shoulder muscles to bone and assist the muscles in moving the shoulder.
The bones of the shoulder are held in place by muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

 Shoulder
Frozen shoulder, or arthrofibrosis, is the development of a stiff shoulder in the absence of significant trauma.
Although arthroscopic shoulder stabilization is technically feasible, it is still in the developmental stage and not widely done, since the success rate for this operation has not been as high as for open stabilization, especially in active, athletic patients, and since the recovery is not significantly shortened by arthroscopic means.
The shoulder is a joint whose anatomy has the following important features from a clinical standpoint: (1) it is a ball and socket joint with a very shallow socket which allows a large range of motion but at the cost of the tendency to dislocate if the ligaments become injured.

Hard shoulder - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Some motorways do not have hard shoulders at all (for example the A6144(M) and the A57(M)) and there are a small number of dual carriageway A-roads which do posess hard shoulders (for example, parts of the A1, A2 and A27).
A hard shoulder also allows some extra flexibility should a motorist need to take evasive action, as it is a buffer area between the main thoroughfare and the edge of the road.
In some cases, particularly on old rural roadways, shoulders do not exist or are made of gravel rather than hard asphalt or concrete.

 Shoulder Dystocia
I believe that shoulder dystocia is not a soft tissue problem; thus the time spent cutting an episiotomy after the delivery of the head can be better spent performing maneuvers which have been proven to help resolve the true problem, which is the impaction of the shoulder behind the pubis.
Since shoulder dystocia is predominately caused by impaction of the fetal shoulder against the maternal pubic bone, and not the soft-tissue of the perineum, I have never been impressed that cutting an episiotomy is particularly helpful.
As shoulder dystocia (as referred to in European practice) is due to the shoulders being held up at the pelvic inlet then episiotomy will not help things UNLESS it is done to facilitate access for internal manoeuvres to rotate the shoulders or deliver the posterior arm.
