Recreational drug use - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Recreational drug use is the use of psychoactive drugs for recreational rather than medical or spiritual purposes, although the distinction is not always clear.
Many societies have abandoned what they feel are unsuccessful attempts to prohibit recreational drugs, and instead turned to a policy of harm reduction by informing users of ways to reduce common risks associated with popular drugs, and providing medical assistance for drug users who wish to stop using drugs.
Regardless of medical supervision, this label does not apply to the use of drugs for utilitarian purposes, such as the relief of fatigue or insomnia, or the control of appetite.

Drug - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Drug addiction, which can be either physical or psychological, is the compulsive use of drugs, to the point where the user has no effective choice but to continue use.
Pharmacies may also supply a drug directly to patients, authorized by a prescription from a medical professional, if the drug can be safely self-administered.
In the United States, medical professionals may obtain drugs from drug companies or pharmacies (which in turn purchase drugs from the drug companies).

 Recreational Drug Use
For set we are generally concerned with an individual’s state of physical and emotional health at the time the drug is used, what their previous experiences are with a particular drug, and what their expectations for that drug are.
Predictable drug outcomes are the result of responsible use of those drugs.
Earlier we defined social-recreational use of drugs as drug use that occurs within social settings and is motivated by a desire to share pleasurable experiences among friends.

 Recreational Drugs
Sometimes irresponsible and uninformed drug use is harmful to others, such as when someone drives under the influence and causes an accident, or when a parent uses drugs and neglects a child.
This is a point that seems to have been lost in the treatment of drugs.
So it should now be clear that our drug policies, particularly those that attach criminal sanctions to their use, sale, and consumption, are grossly out of synch with our more fundamental commitment to maximizing freedom and only restricting those freedoms when absolutely necessary and as little as possible.

 Drugs and Rights
Evidence about how recreational drugs are actually used by human beings in the real world---and not, for example, by rats in laboratories---provides the most reliable perspective.
Moreover, the empirical data about drugs and drug use on which I rely are inconclusive and subject to constant challenge and revision.
I attempt to identify the existing recreational drugs that satisfy or fail to satisfy the criteria for criminalization I have described.

 RECREATIONAL DRUGS - The Cafe
Recreational drugs are a part of life for youth these days, Drugs should be treated with care but to condemn them outright denies reality.
Drugs need to be decriminalized, injection clinics with sterile needles and clean heroin need to be set up to help junkies.
This stigma treats addicts like criminals instead of patients and drug users as some sort of underground group.

 Pocket Guide to Recreational Drugs
The more directly the drug is placed in the body, the less chance the body has to detoxify it and remove impurities.
Don't use drugs to overcome the hangover or 'down' period after using drugs.
This is one of the more common themes heard from addicts-that the addict doesn't feel andquot;rightandquot; until taking the drug.

 amfAR NEWS
February 3, 2003 - The dangers associated with recreational drugs such as methamphetamines, heroin, and MDMA (ecstasy) are widely recognized.
Whatever the exact nature of the dynamic, it is clear that “beyond just the effects of the commingling of risk behaviors, club drugs seem to increase sexual desire and sexual performance and sexual risk,” he explained.
Clinicians tend to disagree regarding the biochemical effects of combining HIV medications and recreational drugs, with most doctors and treatment providers saying they rely almost entirely on anecdotal evidence to understand the effects of specific drug combinations.

THE LEGALIZATION OF "RECREATIONAL DRUGS";  SHOULD IT OCCUR?
Since the drugs are thus expensive, many users will have another motivation beyond the simple friendly desire of sharing: there prevails the wish to transform friends into drug consumers, and by doing so drugs will be sold to the newcomers, what will help to defray the former users' own drug addiction.
Of course, we need to realize the legitimate support that the drug users should receive, even when there is no desire to overcome their drug consumption.
The drug recovery programs therapeutic success reaches up to 70% for chemical dependants in 2 or 3 years treatment follow up.

Interactions between recreational drugs and antiretroviral agents
Just because a drug interaction is found between drugs in the laboratory that does not mean such an affect will definitely occur in the patient taking the drugs.
One of the inherent concerns associated with recreational drug use is that the margin of safety for many of these substances is often poorly defined, and quality control is often highly variable.
The purpose of this review is to summarize data on drug interactions between recreational drugs and antiretrovirals.

 recreational drugs
Remember that drugs may be considered "cool" by your friends and you're probably sick of people telling you that it's "not cool," but just think of the possible consequences you may end up facing before you make a choice.
One of the most dangerous things about this drug is that it is an anaesthetic, so if you hurt yourself, you may not feel any pain resulting in further damage that may possibly be permanent.
In addition to this, injecting drugs with needles carries a high risk of infections through unsanitary needles (remember that cleaning needles with bleach doesn't kill Hepatitis C!).

This section is intended to provide factual information on the use of non-prescribed drugs and solvents in relation to epilepsy.

Development Department Research Programme Research Findings No. 102
The Centre for Drug Misuse Research at Glasgow University was at the same time commissioned to conduct a qualitative study to explore the social context in which drug use and driving occurred.
Just over half of those who had drug driven in the last 12 months, felt that their driving had not been affected by taking drugs.
To ensure the survey only captured illegal drug use, respondents were specifically asked not to answer about drugs that were prescribed or administered to them by a doctor or other medical professional.

Recreational Drugs: No Fun for Baby
The drug reaches the fetus in the uterus, making the developing baby an addict as well.

Parks & Recreation: There's No Such Thing as Recreational Drugs - Brief Article
It is very sad to know that there are so many true recreational activities available at thousands of park and recreation facilities that can give kids a natural feeling of well-being, satisfaction, and invigoration without falling into the trap of drug usage and dependency.
I shared with them our strong disagreement with the continued use of the terminology of "recreational drug usage" as well as relaying the vital importance of park and recreation services in keeping kids away from illegal and illicit drugs.
I'm not only referring to drugs such as Ecstasy, the "choice" drug of teens today, but taking real pharmaceuticals intended for medical purposes, and abusing them.

SHOULD ALL RECREATIONAL DRUGS BE LEGALISED?
Possibly the biggest problem with illegal drugs is not the end use, but the associated crime.
First of all - I don't use any rec drugs.
I say legalize them; if someone's subsequent behavior is problematic, confront that behaviour.
