 Symmetry
The difficulty for an intelligence to differentiate such a seemingly exact similarity might be responsible for the mild altered state of consciousness one gets by observing intricate patterns based on symmetry.
The generalisation of symmetry in physics to mean invariance under any kind of transformation has become one of the most powerful tools of theoretical physics.
The whole subject of Galois theory deals with well-hidden symmetries of fields.

 Echinodermata on Encyclopedia.com
The skin usually has warty projections or spines, or both.
Unlike other radially symmetrical animals, they develop from a bilaterally symmetrical larva and retain some degree of bilateral symmetry as adults.
Echinoderms display pentamerous radial symmetry, that is, the body can be divided into five more or less similar portions around a central axis.

 Symmetry
This contrasts with radial symmetry, which apparently had evolved before bilateral symmetry evolved.
An organism has radial symmetry if there are many planes that divide it into two mirror images.
Animals can be either bilaterally or radially symmetrical.

 Echinoderms
Many, but not all, echinoderms have spiny skin.
Radial symmetry means that the body is a hub, like a bicycle wheel, and tentacles are spokes coming out of it (think of a starfish).
If you get this glue on your body, you will not be able to remove it without shaving your skin!

symmetry : Webster's 1828 Dictionary [ home, info ]
Symmetry is a characteristic of geometrical shapes, equations and other objects; we say that such an object is symmetric with respect to a given operation if this operation, when applied to the object, does not appear to change it.

Radial Symmetry and Decay Rate of Variational Ground States in the Zero Mass Case
For positive nonlinearities positive solutions are radially symmetric with respect to some point and strictly decreasing in radial direction.
We prove that every variational ground state is either strictly positive or strictly negative.
The celebrated symmetry result of Gidas, Ni, and Nirenberg and its refinements do not apply.

 Radial Symmetry
Color was also repeated to enhance the symmetry.
The original design was duplicated eight times to create radial symmetry (balance in a circle shape).
Students created a design using one art object (pencil, crayon, glue, scissors).

Localization of Solutions of Exterior Domain Problems for the Porous Media Equation with Radial Symmetry
The subject of study is the behavior of solutions when the initial data are compactly supported and the boundary data become unbounded as $t \uparrow T$.
Necessary and sufficient conditions for localization, estimates of the size of the blow-up set, and a number of allied results are obtained.

 Encyclopedia4U - Radial symmetry - Encyclopedia Article
Organisms with bilateral symmetry, on the other hand, have 2 orientations: dorsal-ventral, as well as anterior-posterior.
(Multi-layered circular pies exhibit radial symmetry.) Organisms with radial symmetry only have 1 orientation: dorsal-ventral (or anterior-posterior, there is no differentiation).
In biology, radial symmetry is a characteristic that is used to help classify multicellular organisms.

 Chunk#8 of EXTRATERRESTRIAL ENCYCLOPEDIA
Maybe his pantomimes couldn't work with creatures that had six limbs, radial symmetry, brains in their torsos, and, for all he knew, no lungs....
The nerve cord probably runs through the center of the body -- not dorsally, like us vertebrates, or ventrally, like terrestrial insects....
It was doubtful that they even understood his anguished cry as speech.

 Radiata
The Radiata consist of those metazoan organisms having radial symmetry (like sea anemones or jellyfish).
The radiata consist of the cnidaria (jellyfish, corals, sea anemones) and the ctenophora (comb jellies).

 Radial Symmetry Animal
After a great deal of time had passed and I have had the opportunity to look at this object for several years, I now think it is more likely this creature is a radial symmetry animal, rather than the flower of a plant.
When I first found this creature, it looked much like a flower, so my first file names for this creature all involved the word flower.
