Her condition had been extensively studied at several medical centers, where she was repeatedly told that "she had to learn to live with the tremor, hopefully obtaining some relief by taking prescribed medications".
Her mother, also a patient of the practice, reported that the patient suffered tremor of the upper extremities since approximately age 2~3, being nicknamed "shaky bones" by her peers.

 Pharmacotherapy of Autism
Propanolol, a beta-adrenergic-blocker, affects the norepinephrine receptors, and has been used effectively to treat explosive behavior and major temper-tantrums.
LSD, which of course works on the serotonin system, has been shown to increase the autistic’s response to their environment, but is still accompanied by hallucinations (Cook).
The ascorbic acid and propanolol treatments seek to effect the catecholaminergic systems, as opposed to the serotonergic.

But it was one of my first attempts at migraine control, and I hadn't learned to develop any patience with waiting out side effects.
It was stumbled on by accident, when people who took it for heart or blood pressure problems experienced a decrease in migraine.
Yes, there is a side effect for most people of "exercise intolerance," but for me, as for many, it went away after a month or so.

ACHENet Forums - 6yr old with migraines
My concerns are that most of these medicines first off have no affect on the headache itself and that because there are no studies on children this age I'm afraid that some combinations of these medicines will turn out to do more harm then good.
The affects of these headaches sometimes last up to a week.
We have been on several different types of medicine combinations( propanolol & compazine, propanolol & compazine & vistaril, tigan and lorazapam, we are now trying periactin (preventatively) and then vistaril & phenergan abortively.

The mainstay of pharmacologic therapy is alpha blockade with phenoxybenzamine or prazosin followed by beta blockade with propanolol.
The best treatment is nitroprusside which dilates peripheral vessels and propanolol which blocks the action of catecholamine.

Vertigo/Dizziness: Migraine associated vertigo-4 week episode
It is clear that some patients with migraine have severe vertigo symptoms that sometimes respond to medication such as prochloperazine.

The amount of propanolol you are on for prevention is relatively small and only time will tell if it is effective.

Once the patient has returned to the euthyroid (normal) state a decision is made about long term treatment.
Propanolol competitively blocks the beta adrenergic receptors in the heart muscle (myocardium), the lung (bronchial smooth muscle) and blood vessels (vascular smooth muscle).
The beta blocking agents rapidly control the beta adrenergic manifestations which include tachycardia (fast heart rate), palpitations (pounding of the heart), high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias (such as atrial fibrillation), constriction of the lung (especially during asthma attacks), migraine headaches (exact mechanism is unclear) and tremor.

So to try to reduce that adrenaline surge, researchers at Harvard gave a blood pressure drug called propanolol to patients for 19 days after they experienced a traumatic event.
Roger Pitman, a psychiatrist at Harvard Medical School, said, "Too much adrenaline in the aftermath of a traumatic event creates a memory that is overly strong, overly emotional, and too deeply engraved, and our goal through medication is to try to make the memory more of a normal memory."
Those who took the drug reported less severe PTSD symptoms than those who received placebo, and three months later, less anxiety.
