The large pedipalpal coxae abut each other and are fused on the ventral midline (Fig 5).
The pretarsus (= metatarsus, basitarsus), present in the walking legs, is fused with the tarsus.
The endites are fused along the midline to form a trough which, as the floor of the preoral cavity, contains liquefied food on its way to the mouth.

In such case, the pedipalps may prove insufficient to quickly dispatch a struggling prey.
It is obvious to those attempting to handle scorpions that their venom is an effective defense.
The potency is also some of the highest among scorpions and has great propensity to use its sting. It must be justified that the bulbousity of the pedipalp is not in direct inverse relationship with potency.

Mating (from spider) --  Britannica Student Encyclopedia
In most groups, after a male has successfully approached a female and mounted her, he inserts his left pedipalp into the left opening of her genital structure and the right pedipalp into the right opening.
In some primitive spiders (e.g., haplogynes, mygalomorphs) and a few others, the male inserts both pedipalps simultaneously into the female's genital slit.

Evolution didn't come up with a way to grow just one pedipalp so as to increase mobility, but it did find a behavioral work-around.
Sure enough, the two make up about 20 percent of his body weight--more, apparently, than he's willing to carry around.
To do the job properly, each pedipalp has to be enormous, relative to the rest of his body.

Science News: Male spiders amputate organs, run faster
Irschick rates the spiders as an "extreme example" of a species that "got stuck in a massive evolutionary conflict and had to evolve a behavior to get out." As males shrank and females enlarged during the course of T. sisyphoides' evolution, the species probably couldn't afford to reduce pedipalp size too much, says Irschick.
The male spider grows to only about one-hundredth the size of a female, yet one pedipalp accounts for some 10 percent of his body mass.
Although these spiders haven't been studied in depth, researchers had noticed that within hours after a young male's penultimate molt prior to mating, he amputates one of his pedipalps.

 Spiders - Mating
The male does this by inserting the mating organ at the end of its pedipalp (a spine-like structure on tip) carrying the sperm, into the female's reproductive (epigynal) opening on the underside of her body.
Different spiders mate in different positions, but in all cases the aim is to transfer sperm from the male to the female.
In some species the tip of the pedipalp will break off during mating or a hardened secretion will block the females openings, preventing other males from mating with that female.

Natural History: Love and death - Samplings - mating habits of argiope aurantia
Whether his partner is a defenseless, molting juvenile or a consenting though potentially aggressive adult, the male goes into his death throes within moments of inserting the second of his two pedipalps (mating appendages) inside the second of the female's two genital apertures.
Within fifteen minutes--and usually sooner--his heart stops, even when the female is prevented (by experimenters) from molesting him.
A further bit of proof that death occurs without female complicity: one male, after inserting his first pedipalp in the normal place, moved elsewhere on the female's web and inexplicably inserted his second pedipalp into a nearby dead mealworm.
