Rear ended by semi- confused by neurologist
I was referred to the neurologist for the 3rd time and he diagnosed cervical radiculitis and said I had no reflex left in my arms and and was scheduling an anterior cervical discectomy after another MRI.
I was referred to a pain doctor for epidural shots, therapy(two 6 week sessions), and a neurologist.
She ambigously referred me back for pain shots and therapy if needed and said I would not have surgery at this time.

In a 2002 review article in the American Journal of Psychiatry, Professor Joseph B. Martin, Dean of Harvard Medical School and a neurologist by training, wrote that 'the separation of the two categories is arbitrary, often influenced by beliefs rather than proven scientific observations.
Neurologists are responsible for diagnosing and treating all of the above conditions, except for surgical interventions, which fall into the responsibility of neurosurgeons, and in some cases interventional neuroradiologists.
Although many mental illnesses are believed to be neurological disorders affecting the central nervous system, traditionally they are classified separately, and treated by psychiatrists.

Since Broca's findings were based on right-handed subjects, and since right-handedness is predominant in humans, psychologists felt prompted to develop the notion of the left hemisphere as the dominant part of the brain.
In fact, the French physician and anthropologist Paul Pierre Broca (1824-1880) and the German neurologist and psychiatrist Carl Wernicke (1848-1905) produced empirical evidence that important language centers were located in the left hemisphere.

What Is A Neurological Exam? - neurologychannel
In addition to specific questions that make up the actual mental status exam, the neurologist obtains important information by observing the patient’s general behavior during the examination.
The patient is usually asked to undress, so the neurologist can see the muscles and look for atrophy (shrinkage), twitching, or abnormal movements.
The neurologist strokes or scratches, heel-to-toe, the outer side of the sole of the foot and in patients over the age of 2, the toes normally curl downward in response.
