A bone trephine may be used to perform the sinusotomy rostral to a location that parallels the zygomatic processes of the frontal bone.
A dorsal midline skin incision is made beginning at the rostral end of the nasal bone and extending caudally to a location parallel to the zygomatic processes of the frontal bone.

 Glossary of Skeletal Anatomy
the bone forming the lower jaw; the largest and strongest bone of the face, presenting a body and a pair of rami, which articulate with the skull at the tempromandibular joints.
the line or junction formed by a cartilaginous articulation between two bones without an intervening synovial membrane, this articulation often fuses as in the two bones and the two halves of the mandibles [compare to suture and epiphysis].
The maxillae articulate with every bone of the face except the mandible, or lower jawbone.

The spine forms part of the septum of the nose, articulating in front with the crest of the nasal bones and behind with the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid.
The supraorbital margin ends laterally in the zygomatic process, which is strong and prominent, and articulates with the zygomatic bone.
The lateral part of this margin is sharp and prominent, affording to the eye, in that situation, considerable protection from injury; the medial part is rounded.

Its medial end is sharp and pointed, and, when united with that of the opposite bone, forms a projecting process, the posterior nasal spine for the attachment of the Musculus uvulæ.
The lateral surface is divided into an articular and a non-articular portion: the former is rough, for articulation with the medial pterygoid plate; the latter is smooth, and forms part of the pterygopalatine fossa.
The inferior surface, slightly concave and rough, forms, with the corresponding surface of the opposite bone, the posterior fourth of the hard palate.

Anteriorly, between the orbital surfaces, the frontal bone articulates with the anterior portions of the nasal bones and frontal processes of the maxilla.
They articulate with the nasal process of the frontal bone superiorly, the frontal process of the maxillary bone laterally, and with one another medially.
The external surface is convex except for the superior-most portion, where a concavity forms as the margin turns superiorly to articulate with the frontal bone.

Presently the prosthesis is functioning very well and the nasal portion of the reconstruction is esthetically satisfying to the patient.
The mucosa of the defect from the lateral aspects of the nasal surgical wall posteriorly and the velopharyngeal area appeared normal.
This case demonstrates the difficulty in obturation of large facial reconstructions where the skin itself is involved in the neoplastic process leaving poor margins for interfacing with the nasal prosthesis and where underlying bony margins are insufficient for the reception of osseous implants without extensive bone grafting.

Reduction of the nasal bones may also affect the correction of existing acute septal deformity; if this reduction does not occur, Asch forceps or other appropriate instrumentation can be used to manipulate the septum.
The treatment of nasal and septal fractures must be instituted only after a thorough evaluation and an accurate assessment of the severity of injury.
Patients should expect to have an excellent recovery of nasal respiration as well as cosmetic restoration, but they should be warned that injuries to the nose alter the anatomy permanently.

The Piltdown Nasal Turbinate and Bone Implement:
When I examined the original Piltdown bones in 1951 (4), 1 was astonished to find that, among the human bones recovered at Piltdown, substantial portions of a turbinate were represented Dawson (5, p.
Perhaps Dawson meant the "in situ" in an anatomical sense to refer to the relation of the turbinates to the nasal bones, in which case he would again have been in error.
Even more curious is the finding of the turbinate beneath the nasal bones "in situ." Neither the ethmoidal nor the inferior turbinates are in any way attached to the nasal bones.

The appeal arises from a November 1991 rating decision which denied various claims, including entitlement to service connection for flat feet, weakness of the feet and ankles, and headaches and entitlement to increased evaluations for chronic low back pain and residuals of a fracture of the nasal bone.
Also, any headaches present have not been attributed to the veteran's service-connected residuals of a fracture of the nasal bone.

Ultrasound screening for the absence of a fetal nasal bone at 11-14 weeks' gestation is a new technique that offers promise for further refining the prenatal diagnosis of trisomy 21, according to Dr. Simona Cicero of King's College Hospital Medical School, London, and her associates.
Among 59 fetuses later determined by chorionic villus sampling and fetal karyotyping to have trisomy 21, the nasal bone was noted to be absent on ultrasound in 43 (73%).
