 Mydriatic-cycloplegic drugs and corticosteroids
Mydriatics and cycloplegics are used mostly in ophthalmic examinations but also for treating certain eye conditions.
Therefore, antimuscarinic drugs are instilled to dilate the pupil to facilitate a more thorough examination of the fundus (the inner surface of the eye, covered by the retina), lens, periphery and vitreous humour.
The third article in our eye disorders series examines the use of mydriatic-cycloplegic drugs and corticosteroids.

Effect of mydriatic and cycloplegic drugs in glaucomatous and nonglaucomatous eyes using ultrasound biomicroscopy
The objective of this study is to evaluate, by means of ultrasound biomicroscopy, the anterior segment of the eye of the patient with chronic simple glaucoma and nonglaucomatous eyes after mydriatic and cycloplegic instillation.
The variable of the anterior chamber depth was measured only in the axial position but all the previous conditions established for each examination were observed.
