Masculinism - definition of Masculinism in Encyclopedia
In some Women's studies courses 'masculinities' are discussed, although many masculists would identify these courses as an attack on men and not consider such courses to be outside of the feminist perspective.
There exists an alternate view of masculism as a complementary movement to feminism, the so-called "New Masculinity." In this viewpoint, both feminism and masculism are attempts to correct disadvantages induced by gender roles.
However, the term masculism did not gain usage until the end of the 20th century and even today is sometimes misspelt "masculinism" or even confused with misogyny.

Masculism (also referred to as "masculinism") is a number of ideologies found in the streams of the men's movement.
Liberals tend to view masculism as a complementary movement to feminism, the so-called "New Masculinity." Both feminism and masculism are seen as attempts to correct disadvantages induced by gender roles.

 Jay Lemke's paper
The initial principle of the masculinist critique is that the sciences, as relatively masculinized occupations, participate in the social construction of masculinity for their members, and the maintenance of the canonical (middle-class, middle-aged, heterosexual) model of the gender system in society as a whole.
The masculinization of the sciences, the masculinist focus of the specification hierarchy, and masculinism in general is today being challenged by the growing social power of women and gay men.
The most masculinized roles in science, and among the sciences, are those associated with the greatest degree of power and control over other people (especially those who are themselves masculinized and closest to the center of the specification hierarchy) and over resources.

 Introduction
Masculinism is best thought of as Judeo/Christianity and is best understood in terms of the values associated with it.
The most important is the Theory of Spectra which provides the basis for separation of masculinism and feminism.
Next, as a related issue, I discuss the psychological damage done by masculinism and why and how it occurs in the Theory of Complexes.

Masculinism isn't a movement, or at least has not been established as one as of yet in modern history.
What I am saying is that we are in a continuing process of changing behavioral conditions due to the effect feminism has had on society as a whole.
"Masculinism" and "Feminism" are in no way to be construed as being the same things.

The dominant theme of mainstream masculinism is the demand for a gender-neutral approach to social problems such as broken families, domestic violence and reproduction.
By contrast, feminist critics claim that masculinism promotes an exclusively male point of view at the expense of women.
Gender issues are being rocked by masculinism -- sometimes called men's rights or the Men's Movement (search).

Because various masculinities coexist in a state of constant tension and contestation within societies, the political arena often provides the context in which the competition for dominance among various masculinities is carried out.
There is generally a hegemonic form of masculinity, the most honored or desired in a particular context… The hegemonic form need not be the most common form of masculinity.
Many men live in a state of some tension with, or distance from, hegemonic masculinity; others (such as sporting heroes) are taken as exemplars of hegemonic masculinity and are required to live up to it strenuously.

 Masculinity and Academic Discourse
Thus a stereotype says that there is such a thing as masculinity, and being masculine implies that one is, say, both sexually active and interpersonally aggressive, and that it is natural for these traits to be positively correlated to a high degree.
But to do this we will have to consider such matters as the difference between working-class and middle-class masculinities, and between heterosexual and other stereotypes of possible masculinities.
Regarding the specific matter of academic discourse, I will examine in what ways its semantic features are used to reinforce stereotypically masculine elements of the identities of the male academics who deploy the discourse.

I define “masculinity” as a number of practices – producing a way of being in the world and a vision of the world – structured by masculinism, founded on and making possible the oppression of women.
It’s necessary to become conscious of the inherent conflicts of such a transformation of male subjectivity in order to be able to dissociate yourself from your social group and its characteristics: masculinity and masculinism.
It is thus important to transform male subjectivity in such a way that it fully integrates into its analyses the existence of women and their oppressed lives.

Center of Europe: Articles: Masculinism: Setting the Problem
Society moves today directly to sex nivelation leaving aside the attempts of physiological transformation (questions of bi- and trans- sexuality, gayism and lesbism are being now actively discussed mainly in scandal, far from adequacy, ”mass-cultural” mood), we turn to psychological, ”gender” equalization of sexes nowadays (though it can be only the set of the problem).
From the other side, there are more and more women around, which are not satisfied (and that's, evidently, natural) of the position of “Other one”; they more actively forward themselves to the struggle for world transformation, successfully compete with men in all, even in traditionally “masculine” (management, army) life spheres.
Meanwhile, the more feminist apologist promote their projects, the more men dream about “old good times”.Who knows, maybe we're on the birth point of the new philosophy — “masculinism” — the philosophy of revision?
