 How To Do Kegel Exercises
Kegels also help you to become aware of feelings of tension and relaxation in these muscles so you can better help your baby to be born.
Kegel exercises are exercises that strengthen certain muscles in your pelvis.
By doing the exercises you will know what these muscles feel like when they are tight and when they are loose.

Kegels are most effective when the incontinence is due mostly to weak pelvic floor muscles (in women, childbirth is the most common reason).
Kegels are actually a voluntary re-enactment of the reflex contracting and releasing of the pelvic floor muscles when a woman has an orgasm.
Kegel exercises consist simply of contracting and relaxing the pelvic floor muscles.

KEGELS: EXERCISES FOR AN EASIER DELIVERY
Kegel exercises strengthen all the muscles supporting your uro-genital tract.
Doing Kegel exercises can not only prevent or treat pregnancy incontinence, they can make birth itself easier, because once you have practiced exercising your pelvic floor muscles; you'll know how to release them.
Incontinence can continue after pregnancy, since these muscles are stretched to their utmost when you push out the baby.

Kegels is the name that has been given to a technique known to exercise vaginal and pelvic floor muscles.
As long as the technique is done properly, performing Kegels on a regular basis is also known to enhance sexual vitality, and to ease lower back pain by assisting with postural alignment through strengthening muscles around the base of the spine.
The Squeeze-Hold-Release Technique has been recognized and recommended by medical doctors worldwide as an effective way to help prevent incontinence - it is the only natural alternative to surgery (which is often prescribed once those muscles have lost their elasticity, as they do with age).

Why traditional Kegel Exercises & Exercisers are not enough
Most women who just "do" kegels usually have minimal results due to the lack variable resistance and no feedback to determine if they are doing the exercise properly.
From that he concluded that all women should be doing a variable resistance pelvic floor muscle exercise for their general health.
The important difference between what people are calling a kegel exercise what Dr. Kegel discovered is the "Biofeedback" part.

Another way to locate your BC muscle (the muscle which stops the flow of urine) is to flex your penis when you get an erection.

In fact, Kegel exercises were originally done with physician coaching?the physician would place a finger into the woman?s vagina and ask her to clamp her muscles down around the physician?s finger.
However, for strengthening the pelvic floor muscles in a comprehensive way (engaging all six muscles invloved) many women find that the feedback they get from the Exercise Egg helps them locate their pelvic floor muscles, and allows them to strengthen them more effectively.
In a provider-client relationship, the two worked together to understand the anatomy, confirm the flexion of the pelvic floor, work through a schedule of exercises, and assess progress.

 Kegel Exrecises.
Good question, the truth is the kegel exercises are something that every woman should be made aware of as they can enhance a woman's sex life long before the conception of any child.
The kegel exercises relate to a group of muscles known as the pubococcygeal [PC] muscles.
Many women, myself included, have and do perform and practice our kegels for purely sexual reasons : Since the muscle encircles the the outside of the vagina, women who practice their Kegels can often experience a stronger potential for orgasm, enhanced g-spot activity, and an increased sexual awareness.

To Mother with Love: To Kegel or Not to Kegel...
And regularly practicing Kegel exercises during pregnancy can indeed help most women increase the tone and elasticity of their pelvic floor muscles, so that these muscles become stronger and stretchier for childbirth.
Furthermore, it would appear that Kegels have become "necessary" largely because of modern medical practice, which pays little heed to the physiology and necessity of normal, unhindered birth.
I would like to hear from any other moms out there who have had to deal with the problem of a stretch-resistant peri, especially any who have been able to overcome it with subsequent episiotomy-free, natural births.

 Kegels
Dr. Kegel later reported in articles published during the early 50's that, in almost every instance, there was a spontaneous improvement in his patients' ability to respond sexually when they learned to strengthen and control the PC muscles.
Later, in the 40's, Dr. Arnold Kegel invented a "biofeedback" device (called a perineometer) that helped women to do these exercises more effectively.
In the 1930's, Dr. Joshua Davies developed exercises to help women overcome urinary incontinence problems.

TVT and Kegels - Hyster Sisters Hysterectomy Archive
He said, "Well, I tell ALL my patients who have surgery for incontinence to KEEP ON KEGELING!" and then he told me, of course, that he didn't want to say anything negative about the urologist, but he didn't understand how doing kegels was going to compromise the integrity of the sling or tear internally.
Then one year he was flabbergasted at how much better my pelvic floor muscles were and asked me what I was doing.
Now, my thought is, and I told my gyn as much--that this makes NO SENSE, then to do a TVT if you can no longer do kegels.

Pelvic muscle exercises (commonly known as "Kegels") involve contracting the muscle of the urethra, vagina and rectum for a period of time and then relaxing them.
These techniques are recommended to strengthen the muscles around the vagina and urethra.
For women who have trouble kegeling, biofeedback training can help.

I have tried Kegels and they did not solve my problem. How can Beyond Kegels do any better?
The muscles that need to be strengthened to improve bladder health include the pelvic floor (Kegel muscle) and other muscles that attach or are related to the Kegels muscle (the obturator and adductor muscles).
The Beyond Kegels protocol strengenthens the pelvic muscles with fewer exercises, in less time and they are easier to do.
The Beyond Kegels protocol involves new exercises that utilize new muscles and lifestyle changes that can help with bladder health.

 Kegels anyone
For women in childbirth the kegels need to relax but be healthy to help with the actual birthing procedure and, after childbirth, be able to contract again to stop those little leaks that might happen when you sneeze or laugh.
There are many ways to find them - try holding your water (or whatever) next time you're on the loo (john, toilet, wc, etc), or putting your fingers real low at the pubic bone and then coughing - the muscles that you feel contracting are part of the pelvic floor muscles.
The exercises that new mom's are given should be done on a daily basis, in fact one author (writing about Yoga for pregnancy) suggests doing 50 to 200 Kegel contractions per day.
