Jaws was a key film in establishing the benefits of a wide national release backed by heavy media advertising, rather than a progressive release that let a film slowly enter new markets and build support over a period of time.
Jaws (1975) is an American film, based on a best-selling novel by Peter Benchley which itself was based loosely on the true story of the Jersey Shore Shark Attacks of 1916.
Jaws was followed by three sequels, generally regarded as increasingly poor in quality as compared to the original: Jaws 2 (1978), Jaws 3-D (1983) and Jaws: The Revenge (1987).

The film feeding apparatus 260 is pivotally mounted to the machine structure and coupled to a solenoid (not shown) so that, depending on the film supply that is selected, the feeding apparatus 260 may be pivoted to align the appropriate set of film feeding jaws 252,254 with the film end pick-up position 114.
The film feeding jaws 252,254 are associated with pinch rollers 248,250, respectively, with the film being threaded between the pinch rollers 248,250 and the jaws 252,254 so that the film may be gripped by the gripper 112 at the film end pick-up position 114.
The film is gripped by the gripper 112 and drawn into the machine 100 by retraction of the gripper 112 to the left to a fixed film draw or defined stop position 117, in which the gripper 112 is shown in Figs.

 Amazon.co.uk: Jaws 3 [1982]: Video
As far as i'm concerned the jaws series, should really be the first, and maybe second films, and do not really class this(jaws 3) or "the revenge" as real parts of the story.
This film is actually a good sequel to Jaws and the film itself is quite disturbing at times, gruesome and horrific.
If you are looking at this hoping that it will be like the first 2 films, save your money as it's significantly inferior, and a complete joke compared to Jaws, which is in my opinion one of the finest, and most suspense filled film ever made, with great acting and writing all around.

 Jaws 2 (1978)
Granted, it lacks in the personal relationships and that is what made Jaws such the classic that it is. We all know that there is no way a sequel to Jaws could ever live up to what we experienced with Jaws, but this film is about as scary as they come.
I think Jaws 2 is a great film and it is just as scary if not a little scarier than the first, but what it lacks is that it's characters don't have time to develop.
He knows what it is. This is such a powerful scene in the film and it is directed with such skill that it looks like it could have been directed by Spielberg.

 Jaws 2
What's more important about Jaws 2 is that even set apart from its infinitely superior predecessor, viewed as a stand-alone film, it's still not that great of a film.
But the attack scenes are few and far between, with only John Williams' classic score as a reminder that this is still a Jaws movie, and there can't be a shark fin popping out of the water too far off on the horizon.
Even if Spielberg dropped by the set for one day and showed the crew how to do things, just for that one day, then Jaws 2 might have turned into a better film.

 Horror Film Posters
Classic cult and horror films relied heavily on music, a great story and the right direction as can be seen in the classic film "Jaws." The musical score in this film set the mood of intensity as we watched and anticipated Jaws' next move.
While there have been many great horror films in the past few decades, "Jaws" still stands as one of my all time favourites.
One has to appreciate horror films of the past that carried their weight from start to finish even before computer generated special effects came about.

We could have easily made a film like a "Naked Gun" but that has been done before and I felt we needed to create a new approach to parodying a film that both honored the original and created something that could stand on it's own.

DVDown Under Review - Jaws 2
With the original Jaws being touted as a masterful film, the makers of Jaws 2 must have been rather intimated this time going in, but at the end of the day Jaws 2 is a very faithful and very decent followup to what did become a declining film series.
So 3 years after the Spielberg blockbuster first frightened movie goers out of the water and into the cinemas the Great White Shark was back for a second helping, in the highly originally titled Jaws 2.
All in all, Jaws 2 is very nicely presented on DVD, and is certainly the best of the "sequels" and makes a nice companion piece to the Original.

The film articulates traditional Hollywood "liberal" values, by presenting governmental representatives, purportedly serving in the public interest, who are easily bought off by the business community, who only serve in the interest of profit.
We are made to identify with Chief Brody throughout the film, so that when the mother of the dead boy slaps him, we know that he has been wronged by her.
Yet, the film backs away from a radical critique of this corrupt government-business relationship, revealing that not all public officials are corrupt.

His action scenes are, nevertheless, quite suspenceful and creative--the opener is a nice teaser reminiscent of Spielberg's film, shown from the shark's POV; the skier sequence is more fast-paced than anything in Jaws; and the helicopter scene, followed by the swallowing whole of Sean Brody (Marc Gilpin)'s savior, Marge.

 Review: Jaws
The second half of the film is the classic man against beast, with Jaws representing the rarest of movie monsters – something that exists in the depths of the ocean (albeit typically in smaller dimensions).
Ironically, it is this handicap that resulted in one of the film's great strengths – by keeping Jaws hidden from the audience, the movie builds suspense to a high level.
Jaws was the first summer mega-hit, but, because Hollywood learns from its success stories, it has not been the last one.
