 AMERICAN BOARD OF ELECTROENCEPHA
In the mid 1960's, the American Medical Electroencephalographic Association (AMEEGA) became aware of the need to identify qualified clinical electroencephalographers who are Physicians.
In 1982, the Board recognized that additional modalities of electrophysiologic testing of the nervous system had come into wide clinical usage.
In 1986 the Board’s name was, therefore, expanded to The American Board of Electroencephalography and Neurophysiology, Inc. (ABEN), in order to reflect its interest and involvement in these additional modes of neurophysiologic testing.
