Cestoda - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In biology, Cestoda is the class of parasitic flatworms, called tapeworms, that live in the digestive tracts of vertebrates as adults and often in the bodies of various animals as juveniles.
Tapeworms harm their host by stealing vital nutrients, causing malnutrition and if left untreated can cause intestinal blockages.
There are two subclasses in class Cestoda, the Cestodaria and the Eucestoda.

 The Class Cestoda (Tapeworms)
The Class Cestoda is divided into two subclasses, the Cestodaria and the Eucestoda.
The Eucestoda contains all the animals we usually think of as tapeworms.
The traditional adult tapeworm is little more than a head with a complicated set of hooks to hang on with and a continuously produced series of reproductive segments behind this.

Members of the phylum Acanthocephala are entirely endoparasitic, but when compared to other invertebrate parasites such as the roundworms (phylum Nematoda) and tapeworms (phylum Platyhelminthes, class Cestoda), they are relatively rare.
However, acanthocephalans have succeeded by infiltrating niches within every vertebrate class.
