Bartholin Cyst Articles Bartholin Cyst Secrets
A bartholin's gland cyst is a swollen fluid filled lump that develops from a blockage of one of the bartholin's glands.
Women with functional ovarian cysts were less likely than control subjects to be married, to have a college education, and to have an income over 45,000, and were more likely than control women to smoke and have a body mass index greater than 25.7 kg per m.sup.2.
One cyst had ruptured the other was intact, causing her pain and pressure.

Caspar Bartholin the Younger (secundus) (www.whonamedit.com)
Caspar Bartholin was accused of doing more to further his own interests and that of his family, than he did for the university and the study of medicine.
Caspar Bartholin began his medical studies in 1671, and already in 1674, aged 19, he was appointed professor of philosophy by the King, Christian IV.
His grandfather, Caspar Berthelsen Bartholin (1585-1677), also known as Jesper Bertelsen, Casparus Bartholinus or Bartholinus Malmogiensis, was the son of Bertel Jespersen, a vicar in Malmö, then a part of Denmark, now in Sweden.

 Patient Experience
She gave me the proper diagnosis, Bartholin's cyst, which is basicly a blocked gland inside vagina, filling up with vaginal fluids, and sent me to a gyneachologist, who tried to perform the operation under local anaesticia, which alone was extremely painful to have in that area.
The cyst has continued to swell and is now quite large (1x4cms) and painful, though I can't quite distinguish the pain from fibromyalgia in the nearby quadriceps and a dodgy hip.
I have had other B cysts that never got bigger than a pea and popped on their own, so I thought this one was different because there really wasn't any pain.

 History of the Adrenal Medulla
There are many detractors of the Bartholins' theory, most of them arguing on anatomical grounds.
One of the most widely debated of the early theories of the function of the adrenal glands was that of Caspar Bartholin, later defended by Thomas.
Molinetti refuted this view by stating that the adrenals lay above the plexus and that the plexus itself was so firmly adherent to the vertebra that it could be freed from it only with a scalpel.
