Anthrax - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anthrax can enter the human body through the intestines, lungs (inhalation), or skin (cutaneous).
When anthrax affects humans, it is usually due to an occupational exposure to infected animals or their products (such as skin and meat).
Unlike bruises or most other lesions, cutaneous anthrax does not cause pain.

 Anthrax
This vaccine protects against anthrax that is acquired through the skin and it is believed that it would also be effective against inhaled spores in a biowarfare situation.
The disease begins abruptly with high fever and chest pain.
This was recently announced by R.G. Crystal and colleagues from the Medical College of Cornell University, in the February, 2005 issue of the journal, Molecular Therapy.

Anthrax as a Weapon of Terrorism and Difficulties Presented in Response to its Use
This vaccine consists of anthrax bacillus that is attenuated (weakened), unencapsulated, and nonproteolytic strain.
A vaccine acclimates the immune system to immediately recognize anthrax bacillus as a foreign body.
A clandestine biological research laboratory was set up in Baltimore, MD by the German government in 1915.

 Anthrax
To diagnose intestinal anthrax, your doctor may examine your throat or intestines with the aid of an endoscope — a thin, flexible tube with a video camera at its tip that can be inserted into your throat or intestines to check for anthrax lesions.
Gastrointestinal anthrax causes sores (ulcers) within your intestines — much like the sores that appear on the skin in the cutaneous form.
Since this form of anthrax infects both the lungs and lymph nodes in your chest, there's often a very characteristic appearance on the chest X-ray.

Chest x-ray: Inhalational anthrax often does not appear on chest x-ray films as a typical pneumonia; therefore, pulmonary densities often are absent.
In a review of the 11 patients infected by anthrax in October 2001, chest x-ray films from the initial examination showed mediastinal widening, paratracheal and hilar fullness, and pleural effusions or infiltrates.

In both cases, gastrointestinal anthrax can spread through the body and is often fatal if not treated immediately.
Worldwide incidence is unknown, but anthrax occurs more frequently in developing countries, especially those without strong veterinary public health programs.
Variations between strains might also point to differences in antibiotic susceptibility, permitting doctors to immediately determine the appropriate treatment.
